Leaving PM........

Botas is all loaded up to go to his new summer home, at Carlos's ranch, 7 km south of PM.......Carlos is a friend I do Spay and Neuter Clinics with and is very involved in animal rescue here in Mexico.....

Botas has done a meet and greet a week ago and was a little overwhelmed... Carlos has 18 dogs.....so he was reluctant to come out of his kennel....

Here is the main gate on the highway, and Carlos has many hectares of land for the dogs to play in, along with organice produce, chickens, geese, ducks and turkeys....all in huge fenced pens away from the dogs....

The inside gate - the ranch has WOOF volunteers constantly (World Organization of Organic Farmers) who come from around the world to work on the farm in exchange for room and board. Botas will have lots of friends, 2 legged and 4 legged, and we hope it will help him get even more socialized.

Off to the airport on May 1st - thanks to Brian for the ride - and we met Ricardo, who was the volunteer for Tierra de Animales, an animal rescue organization in Cancun. We were the companions for 2 rescue dogs going to homes in Canada.

This is Brenda....these 2 dogs were so calm and cool....not at all freaked by all the noise and people and activity......

Once the dogs had been processed and boarded, and we had checked in, we took time for a quick bite at a resto in the airport....been up since 3 am, so happy just to take a break.........

and they called our boarding in the middle of our final margarita, so took them with us on board....complete with shakers..........

These lucky dogs are Brenda and Paco, who arrived safe and sound and we were met immediately by Ola who is taking them home. Gave Carl and Alice a bit of a scare when we arrived with 2 dog crates on our luggage rack....LOL.....

Lovely Mexican rescue dogs arrive safely at Toronto airport....this was an easy and trouble free experience for us, so we will do this every year when we fly home. Thanks to all the great volunteers in both Mexico and Canada who make this happen.

final days in PM....

All the construction around town has included the main square.....what used to be the playground is now being converted into a "museum of archeology", complete with palapa.....

day before we left, they started putting on the grass....going to very nice, and the kids will be happy when their equipment gets put back together.

The new bathrooms in the square are coming along - will all be done by the time we come home again.......

View from the bookstore window on our last shift.......

Final margarita at David Lau's and these very expensive (3 BMWs and a Harley Davidson) arrived with their 8 young riders......all 8, 4 men and 4 women -  are doctors in Cancun......

Last few days in Puerto Morelos......

I went with our friend Brian out to see his amazing 4 lots on the Cenote Road. He has cleared the perimeter of the property, which not only defines it, but makes for nice walking paths.......

the jungle is awesome...lots of trees, palms and bushes........

this is a giant chic tree.....that was one of the ones used in making Chicklets many years ago.....see all those criss crosses on the bark....that was where the sap was drained from the tree to make the chicklet syrup........

Lots of lovely shady paths to walk on........

and even little seats to sit on here and there.........

and a cenote, no less...............

One of the tallest fan palms I have ever seen.....had to be 30 feet tall........................

Our last meal with Dan and Sandra at David Lau's, with Valorie giving us her usual wonderful attention.....will miss you all........

Joanne dropped in from the bookstore to say hi and goodbye too.........

Another goodbye dinner at Gaucho's with Diane and Bill......see you next winter........

One of the fun final events for us was a movie night at Pangea's, on the beach, organized by Mary and Peter.....an animated sci fi, whose name I forget....it was fun, except for the 20 pound mosquitoes who decended on us for about an hour..........
