Another Spay and Neuter Clinic!

Another big Clinic in PM - and this was the first lucky cat trapped in our yard....!
Poor guy....turns out to be one of our Toms....out cold after his surgery.....
and sleeping it off in his cat carrier, where he spent the night in our bathroom.....
This big boy has been around for a month or so....and I was afraid he wouldn't  show up the day of the Clinic, so I trapped and had him neutered a couple of days before......
No, this little muffin was not being spayed, but one of our volunteers is raising her (her mom was killed by a car) and has to feed her every hour..........
Last Clinic it was Lola, right, who was spayed...but now it is brother Rio's turn.......
This is the prep room where animals are shaved.......
and anaesthetized, and recorded......
and here are the operating tables.......
the dog recovery area........
the cat recovery area.......
Rio in lala land..........
Dads Robin and Steve and even Lola (not shown) were there to help him through the recovery period.
A fabulous dog trainer came for the day and caught 11 stray dogs, all of whom were spayed, neutered and returned to their previous location by days end......
I am sorry about this picture - I took 2 and both were blurry....but this was some of the great vets, vet assistants and volunteers who gathered at Dinah's lovely home after the clinic for great eats and some R & R after a long hard day of work on behalf of the animals of Puerto Morelos!
Dinah went all out - including a great cake.......!!!!
and this road sign is just outside her house....a fitting last note to someone who works hard for our animals.

Town and fond farewells!

A little slow at the bookstore last week...wonder why......????
Now that the town has mayoralty status, our tax money is being spent in town - this is all in aid of new sewers, which is great........
But they DID just pave all these roads last year.......

you never know what you are going to see in the square....like a wedding couple having their pictures taken on the swing..........
Last night Mario and Murielle are in town and we got together for dinner at Pangea with Dominique, daughter Kaitlan and Michele.....
This is Hector......wonderful guitarist.......

Michele is taking the lovely hat that Botas chewed back home to Diane....thinks it will look cute as a gardening hat..........
Good bye you two - good luck back in Grande Prairie Alberta.....!!!

Akumal, Puerto Adventurous and Paamul

After snorkelling, we went to our favourite lunch spot, Buena Vida.....
Awesome food, and the view......
The bay, the water.......
lovely........
and then it was on to Puerto Aventurous, a marina resort ......
lots of money, restaurants, shops.......
and in these waters, beside this little island.....
and DOLPHINS....!!!!!!
Last stop was Paamul...where I promised Mario big iguanas....
check out all these iguanas..........
what a bruiser........
and this guy is just too cute....

Yalku with M & M

Off to beautiful Yalku Lagoon outside of Akumal with Mario and Murielle, who leave for Canada in just a few days.....
Big Mama greeted us at the edge of the lagoon.....

Always such a delight to go snorkel here.....
Now Murielle does not swim and has never snorkelled in her life, but Mario talked her into the water...
Miki cuddles up to Mama.......
In the water, trying on a snorkellllll
my gosh, she has her face in the water......
Can Murielle really be going snorkelling.....?????
And there she goes, folks, led by a smiling Mario.....
Amazing and wonderful.....
Yalku has added several more cabanas for rent for large groups or families...
Lovely place to lie in a hammock after snorkelling....
The sculptures at Yalku are almost as wonderful as the water and fish...
This is how I felt after swimming with all those fish for an hour or so...
and this is how I would like to have done my swimming...LOL
