Goodbye Mario, hello visitors.....

On Mario's last night in PM we had a nice dinner and  regretfully sent him back to Grande Prairie Alberta where it is minus 48..........

Botas's bouncing ball ended up in the pool, so Miki and Mario eventually fished it out under the anxious supervision of Botas................

A couple of nights later we had another gathering at the casa with Mick, Bev, Doreen and Laura...................

Miki and Diane watch Botas chasing the favourite ball.......

Diane and Mick share a laugh............

Laura, Carl and Alice and a table full of yummy munchies.......

Party boy loves to be the centre of attention......

Bev, Robin and Steve with B..................

lots of good discussions around the pool.......it was a fun night!!!

Family from the north.......

Miki's brother Carl and wife Alice arrived from Toronto safe and sound so we got them to the beach right smartly!!

We had lunch at Ojo de Agua and enjoyed the sun, the warm ocean and the views.....!

One night it was off to a new local restaurant for pizza with Bev and Mick, Sharon and Les.......

then down to Cantina Habarnero where Mark Mulligan and Peter Pope were playing.....place was packed!!!!

hard to take a pic of the singers, as the black lights screw up the flash.........

Miki, Carl and Alice went off to the Jungle Market for yummy food, great local dancers, and back another day for massage and even a psychic reading........

The Mayan women do a marvelous dance........

Carl and Miki in the forest around the Market......

dinners and music

This is a dreadful pic, but only one of the whole group the other night at Mick and Bev's condo - Linda, Robin and Steve joined us for a great supper.

Nice appies, great chicken caccitorre, salad....and lots of wine.....

This was in between visitors.....nice to have a dinner with our locals........

Bev and Mick are good cooks and great hosts.........

Such a fun group............

Next night it was back to David Lua's with Doreen and Laura, who arrived that day from Victoria, and Jill. Cynthia Morningstar was singing with the Men in Blues - a great blues singer who lives in Playa.........

Somehow yours truly got dragged up on stage to sing O Happy Day with the group....that is me in the white shirt in front.....too fun!

Laura was here on her own last year, and is happily with partner Doreen this year at Posada el Moro.........

We all enjoyed the music and being together again.

Life in PM

New restaurant in town this year...Cucina Italiana.....and it takes its artwork from our resident coatamundis....dear little racoon like critters who have those amazing long striped tales. Look closely at the Venice pic....the gondaliers are coatis....same at the table below...very cute - and great pasta and pizza too!

Ken and Valorie are back again from Victoria with a friend - tried out our new La Luna Llena restaurant in our hood - welcome back!!

Well, yes, we do live in the tropics, so sometimes it rains.....really rains......!! I know west coasters thing they have the market on major rain, but one of these rainfalls can bring up to 6 inches in less than an hour.....this pic is from the bookstore window.....

a little bowl of canned salmon juice was a big hit with the street cats....
this might translate into a video of the rain...........

Vancouver visitor and Ed....

Our friend Kevin flies with Canjet and had a one night stopover in Cancun, so chose to come to PM for the evening. After I closed up the bookstore at 8 we had a quick bite at Gaucho's - Miki was feeling a little under the weather and did not join us.

Then it was on to Cantina Habarneros where a celebration of Ed Hoffman's life was underway - the late owner of the Cantina, who sadly died a year ago. The tribute started at 5 pm, but by 9 it was still well underway and packed.

The Blues Boys played their great music............

and the guest of honour would have loved it all......these are his ashes in a specially made box, along with a great pic of Ed and a jug of margaritas!!!! I am sure he was rockin on with us......

Kevin stayed right behind the Cantina a couple of years ago and was often kept awake into the wee hours by the music.....:-)

Naty, Ed's widow, has done a great job keeping the place going, and it was decorated for the night with Ed's signature balloons......

James McLean was also there singing his special brand of rock and roll.........

Naty ran all over making sure everyone had what they needed, but she took a moment for herself and watched some of the music for a bit......

and then got dragged onto the stage with James to sing......we all support Naty and her 2 kids and fondly remember Ed on this sad and special day.
