life in PM

Diane, the owner of Mama's Bakery, and an Animal Rescue Queen, nursed a tropical mockingbird from birth to adulthood, so it still comes to the bakery for treats from her.

visitors and tourists alike enjoy feeding her and listen to her sing for her little worms.

We finally had a visit with Daisy and Denis (who left early) and John and Connie from Iowa, and tho it was short, it was sweet!!!

There is a kids amusement carnival in the Colonia this week, across from the library - just for the wee ones.....merry go rounds and low rides. Very well attended!!!

party at the casa!

Dear friends Mick and Bev (who was under the weather this night), Mick's daughter Sidney and partner Ingrid, and Tony and Rebecca all came for appies and supper by the pool. Here Tony and Mick share a laugh.

Miki, Ingrid and Sidney are joined by Mariposa, the cat. We had salad, fresh sourdough bread from Diane, Guadalupe's chicken, home made salsa and guacamole, and a great 3 leches (3 milk) cake from our bakery at the end of the street.

Ingrid, Rebecca and Sidney check out pics of Rebecca's beautiful daughters.

It was another hot evening so of course I ended up in the pool.....! Lovely evening with great friends, old and new.

Openings and birthdays!

Grand opening of EL SALON DE LA FAMA, the new incarnation of Don Pepe's on Sunday  night! The grill was cooking up shrimp and the tequila was flowing.......

And of course the Men in Blues were there to help celebrate the new digs!.

Even the chef got into the dancing groove with the Men playing.......

And it was also Mary Jordan's birthday party at Cantina Habarnero, with Mark Mulligan in attendance cranking out his great tunes. Fine night to listen to music and celebrate dear friends in PM!

Final supper

Last supper was in town at Gauchos - fabulous lasagna all round.....
He got quite a tan in just 10 short days, considering it rained the first 2

After dinner, on his last night in town...poor guy sat in the dentist's chair for 2 1/2 hours getting his new crown installed.

Please meet Dr. America Lara Rojas, our new family dentist! Look at  that shiny new front tooth! Went home afterwards to have final margaritas by the pool.

Boo hoo....sad to see him go, but hopefully he and the family will be back at Christmas!  Bon voyage dear Jason!!!

Full moon party.

Friday was the full moon, so we all gathered at Bev and Mick's lovely condo for drinks first.............

Little Bridgett was the star of the show, as only a two year old can be.........

then we walked to the Mantra beach bar for the bonfire, drinks and even live music by Peter, the wonderful guitarist from Men in Blues. All these chairs were quickly filled and people brought their own as well.

the Manta (formerly Ixchel) beach bar - a great little shack with good drinks and now food throughout the day, including breakfast!

Margaritaville!

Part of the fun of being here is doing an afternoon on the hotel zone in Cancun. Driving past all the fancy hotels and shops and then a stop at Jimmy Buffet's Margaritaville for a margie!

Sometimes the goofy waiters bring sombreros, but today it was balloon hats.....

Yah, we all looked pretty silly........

but we had a great (if expensive) lunch and lots of laughs.
Stopping to look at the beach is always stunning............................

Music at Lau's

Our gang got together at David Lau's - voted this week the #1 restaurant in Puerto Morelos - for dinner, the Men in Blues, and as always, lots of great music and dancing.

The Men were awesome, pumping out all their blues favourites............

And special guest artist for the night was Ivan from Mexico City, who has joined the Men in previous years as well - awesome blues lead guitarist.

And I should mention, and usually forget, that the FOOD at Lau's is wonderful too. Great Chinese food, pizzas, salads and take a look at this fish dish......so yummy! Valorie and her team did a fine job of serving a packed house!!!

from the jungle to the beach...

Took Jason to the Jungle Spa for one of the World's Best Massages..............his back is always sore, so we knew the Mayan women would help him out.

smiling man after an amazing 4 HANDED  massage........thanks, Sandra, for the extra treat for our boy.

Jason wanted to have the experience of staying on the beach, so checked into the Hacienda Morelos, right in town, for one night. Pool, restaurant, lovely beach.

Another beach day...

We spent the day on the beach in front of the Manta beach bar, swimming, sunning and enjoying a margarita. Then we went to Ojo de Agua for some food before heading home.
Before we settled down for the evening, I took Jason and Botas to South Beach, one of my favourite spots and Botas's alltime favourite beach - he always finds new coconuts to chew..!!!

Sadly, there is still evidence of Hurricane Wilma here, a once lovely home trashed and then forgotten. If the owner did not have insurance, or the insurance company did not pay out enough, they have just walked away.

Jason loved this beach, too - full wild breakers, and deserted of people in the late afternoon.

This is why we love this place......sigh!

Sunset over the mangrove as we walked back to the car with our sandy happy dog!
