Vancouver to Seattle

Just like last year, we will travel by almost all manner of transportation to get home to Mexico. Starting with Rick and the car, then BC Ferries (we are calling that the cruise part), then by van in van, and now by train - the trusty Amtrak from Van to Seattle. We love train travel - you can walk around, visit the cafeteria car, meet fellow travellers, and see the country side, as well. This trip is almost all along the Washington State coast, so is very pretty.

We saw lovely farmland, a brew pub right at one of the stations, and many awesome views of the sea - albeit through the pouring rain. But the closer we got to Seattle, the clearer the weather, until it was in fact a sunny day there!

Finally leaving BC

On Oct. 29, our dear friend Rick drove us to the ferry in Victoria. Sadly, I didn't get a pick of him then, so this one from his and Helen's wedding will have to do....:-) Also, I have this underline thing happening which is very annoying. Will find out how to get rid of it for the next installment.

Old friends Roma and Linda picked us up on the Vancouver side in the pouring rain ...what else......and we had a lovely supper and visit with them before they took us to Jason's place.

We had a wonderful 2 nights at Jason's (aha - the underline is gone!), eating, drinking, talking till the wee hours and soaking up as much of J and Amber as we could.

At 5 am on Sat., Oct. 31st Jason dragged himself out of bed and took us to the train station...looks pretty good for 5 am, eh?

Of course, trying to get a 13 year old up at 5 am is simply not do-able, so we said goodbye to dear Amber as she slept soundly. Bye sweetie - see you in the spring!!!!! As you can see, we didn't have QUITE as much stuff as last year, but still pretty much filled Jason's van.
